Loving God

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” God wants us to be in loving relationshis with Him and with others. We develop these loving relationships through Jesus.
Loving God means that we come in full desire to worship. Worship is the act to offer who and what we are before God. It also means that we cannot simply come to church on a Sunday morning and think that we have a fully God-centered relationship. We need to foster our relationship with God through prayer, scripture reading, and being with other Christians… this is what our church is about, loving God and showing that love to the world around us.
From the newest member to the seasoned Christian, the desire of God remains the same to love God and be loved by God. Loving God is the first step in the process of becoming a faithful disciple at Cherryvale.
What is worship?
Worship is expressing thanks to God. At Cherryvale we accomplish this by reading from the Bible; hearing a relevant Bible message about how to live more like Jesus; and by sharing in prayers and songs. We believe that we were made to worship and that there is no better way to worship than with other people.
Do you have a dress code?
No! We believe that you should wear what you feel comfortable in and whatever seems sufficient. God does not look at the ties some wear, the jeans others wear, or the name tags on our clothes… God looks at the heart. Come and celebrate with us (even our pastor doesn’t wear a tie!)
Does it cost money?
No! Come and celebrate with us. While we take an offering in worship, you are our guest and not expected to give.
Will I fit in?
Yes! All are welcome at Cherryvale whether new to faith, seasoned in faith, or looking for a church home. We want to make you feel welcomed. We believe that God wants all of us to feel welcomed, and we strive to make people feel welcomed when then join us. Many of us didn’t grow up in a church and know that it can be a scary place to come for the first time, but we know that you will feel at home at Cherryvale.
What about my kids?
Bring them with you. God wants little and big kids alike to be in worship, and our church wants to hear the sounds of young children just as much as seasoned older adults.
Is there child care?
Yes. However, if you do not feel comfortable leaving your children in children’s church or the nursery, they are welcome to worship with you. (There is even a rocking chair in the back of the sanctuary should you need it.)
Will there be communion?
Some Sundays, usually once a month and on special occasions, we have communion. Our understanding of communion is that EVERYONE is welcome (including all ages). You don’t have to be a member of this church or another… you are welcome to partake with us.
Why shouldn’t I come to worship?
No reason at all!

“My house will be called a house of prayer”
Jesus’ words in the gospel of Matthew 21 are at the center of who we are as a church. To this end, Cherryvale believes that prayer works, and that we should be in prayer for one another. However, this prayer is not just for those who are sick or in need, but should be about the very mission of the church and for the transformation of the world.
